Cinco de Mayo Escape

Tuesday is not exactly a favorite day of the week to have a wedding. There are few people who have the time to attend lengthy wedding services and all day receptions. Cinco de Mayo usually falls on a weekday. Only a dash of creativity is required to plan a memorable wedding for the May holiday.

Semi formal weddings can be held during the morning, afternoon or early evenings. When a semi formal wedding is held during the afernoon, black should be ruled out. For a Cinco de Mayo wedding, consider cotton floral prints to usher in the bride and her attendants. Floral prints can appear subtly through fabrics or be bold in colors. Victorian through modern day, they have been popular through time. Spring orchids, habicus, cactus flowers, lavender and bluebells can be added to wedding ceremonies as live flowers.

An afternoon reception with Mexican flair can be inviting at any time of the year. For Cinco de Mayo, a reception can be particularly festive. A garden patio located close to a place of work or at someone's home can be a convenient setting. Through the use of color, crepe paper decorations, floral linens, a scattering of somberos and music the mood will be set for the spring holiday. Live parrots will make interesting guests. Flowing wine will increase the spirits of all of those who attend the reception.

White icing can seperate tiers of wedding cake. Flavored with lemon, it will be a good break from traditional chocolate. Red chili peppers or roses made of icing will add Mexican accents. A mariachi band on top of the cake will ensure thoughts of a successful married life. Tierra-cottta pillers can seperate cake pillars. A waterfall can seperate several cake tiers.

An abundance of Mexican wedding cakes can be wrapped in colorful Saran Wrap or tulle and tied with ribbons. The most imporant ingredients are high quality vanilla extract and butter. When making the batter for Mexican wedding cookies ground nuts and pecans, hazelnuts, walnuts and almonds should all be added. These will be great converstion pieces long after the reception is over and the sunny skies of May have faded.

Celebrating the victory of beginning a new life together can be done with style and a flair that will be memorable. With planning, a wedding and reception can be held on Cinco de Mayo that will be simple to plan and attend. The possibilities are unlimited. A Cinco de Mayo wedding and reception can be an afternoon escape.
