An Americana Slice Of Pie

Pie has recently become all the rage. It could be because it is a traditional Thanksgiving Day comfort food. There is the added benefit that the soon to be 44TH United States President, Barrack Obama, has mentioned his love for pies throughout his campaign speeches. Whatever it equates to, there is an overall love for pies found throughout the country that shares a nationwide place at the dinner table.

Serving pie at wedding receptions is far to often not taken into consideration. This is surprising since it is a food that is versatile. When planning a wedding reception, the primary food interest is the wedding cake. Looking beyond the powdered sugar frosting almost everything else easily appears like complimentary fluff.

After deciding that pie will be served at your reception, the next major decision is what type it will be. After all, the world of pies is a vast one. The pie can be served as a main course or dessert. The way that it will be served is another consideration. Served in slices, it could take the place of or compliment your wedding cake.

If asked on an average day, I would be far from saying that pie is among my favorite foods. The reason could be that it is not something that I have very often or in large quantities. The ingredients for pot pies, which really is one of my favorite comfort foods if made from scratch, are something that require a lot of planning. How accidental that planning is requires taking several factors into consideration. What the remains are after Thanksgiving feasts are one of the considerations during the month of November.

Serving pot pies at wedding receptions or parties is something that should be well received by most of the guests. A breakfast pie for a morning reception can be considered the norm and not the extroadinary depending upon the breakfast pie. Quiche would be a good selection for a morning reception. Since medieval times, pies served as meals have been rumored to be popular.

There are considerations that should be weighed when deciding to have pie for dessert at your wedding reception. One of these is how it will compliment your wedding cake. Buying a cake from the grocery store and putting it along with your wedding cake would most likely appear like the uninvited party guest. Pies are unlimited in their design and the right design for your wedding reception should be considered.

Berry and fruit pies have intensive flavors. This includes citrus flavors. The classic cherry pie has had a presidential flavor since the time of President Zachary Taylor. Like the black dress, cherry pies are very straightforward. Cherry Pecan Crunch can have frosting baked into the top of the pie.

There are mulitple ways to serve any pie type, including apple. Presenting it as straight from the orchard has a romantic twist for this traditional favorite. Strussel and rum add great flavors. Oatmeal crunch, pecan toppings, nuts and pecans all can upstep an apple pie.

There are countless ways to introduce a traditionally favorite food named pie at wedding receptions. Stencils of flowers, leaves and animals are a personal touch. Other ingredients to consider are pineapple, cocunut, creme cheese, blueberries and cranberries. Dusting the bottom of the pan with creme cheese is a good foundation. Gazing over the small and overpriced plain cup of lemon merange chosen for your wedding reception it will be good to know that you have travelled the elements through the world of pie. The dare to be different can been taken. It is your day.
